Interview with Mike Hranica

SKRATCH: There’s a book and a movie with the same name as your band, but I doubt the same concept. What is the meaning of your name?
MIKE: The meaning of our name reflects anti-materialism and the fact that possessions are not what mean most in the world. We see many in the world today lost in this dilemma.

SKRATCH: I see that you express Christian views in your lyrics. Have you
ever been frowned upon for using metal and rock music with said lyrics?
MIKE: Yeah, people have flipped us off many times because we like to talk
about God and share what we believe. In only makes us stronger though.

SKRATCH: Does your album PLAGUES send the image to fans that you had hoped?
MIKE: So far, yeah. I think everyone is pretty excited on the new record, and that’s something every artist really wants.

SKRATCH: Which song of yours means most to you?
MIKE: I put my all in every song’s lyrics, so I don’t really have a particular.

SKRATCH: If you weren’t a musician, what do you think you’d be doing?
MIKE: Going to college and working on my clothing line, Shipshape.

SKRATCH: What is your favorite thing about playing a show?
MIKE: Seeing kids get into it and enjoy us.

SKRATCH: Is there any particular band that you’d like to tour with?
MIKE: A Day to Remember, At the Throne of Judgment, Once Nothing, Gwen Stacy, August Burns Red, Inhale Exhale, and anyone big haha. I just want to tour with friends and bros.

SKRATCH: What’s a song you’d love to remake?
MIKE: Haha. I’ve never really put much thought into that.

SKRATCH: What do you do outside of the band, for fun?
MIKE: Hang out with my lovely girlfriend, hang out with family and my puppies, hang out with friends, play guitar, run Shipshape Clothing, eat Chipotle and ride my bike.

SKRATCH: What’s the strangest thing that has ever happened to you on stage?
MIKE: There was a crazy old man who came up on stage with us a few months ago. We thought it was joke, but he was completely serious, although rather intoxicated.

SKRATCH: The Beatles or The Rolling Stones?
MIKE: The Beatles.

SKRATCH: Wayne’s World, or Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure?
MIKE: Wayne’s World.

SKRATCH: Italian or Mexican food?
MIKE: Mexican.
